What you will learn?

Guest      Speaker

Engineering projects bring together numerous disciplines, organisations, stakeholders, documents, decisions, and technical activities. But for students and early-career engineers, understanding how all these pieces fit together can be difficult until they have worked inside a major project environment.

This webinar provides a high-level introduction to the engineering project lifecycle. We will explore how projects typically progress from concept and feasibility through engineering, procurement, execution, documentation, quality activities, commissioning, and handover. We will also look at how different professionals — including engineers, project managers, quality specialists, procurement teams, suppliers, document management teams, and operations — interact throughout the project. The goal is to give participants a clearer understanding of the organisational environment surrounding engineering work and how different career functions contribute to delivering a successful project.

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the major stages of an engineering project lifecycle.

  • Recognise how engineering, procurement, quality, documentation, suppliers, and project management interact.

  • Understand why coordination and communication are critical in large projects.

  • Identify different career functions within engineering project organisations.

  • Understand the importance of documentation, traceability, and handover.

  • Better understand where their own role may fit within a wider project.
